My 1987 Monte Carlo SS has 65,xxx miles and was purchased back in 2000 with 47,xxx miles on the odometer. It no longer has the 305 engine or TH200 4R transmission, but now has a 383 SBC and TH350.The 3.73 POSI rear is original.
I had a 383 SBC built while I was daily driving the car. It was built by a somewhat "local". Then the car was stolen and stripped. The same week I got the car back out of the impound lot, I got my 383 delivered. I put the car back together, installed the "new" 383, and drove it again for a bit. That engine never ran right. Had tons of blow-by, and would never seat the rings.It would also rattle alot. I had a very reputable local builder check things out, and it was decided that I should build this engine again.
